## Abstract Two non‐glial phagocytes were found to participate along with ependymoglial cells in Wallerian degeneration of the severed optic nerve of the newt __(Triturus viridescens).__ The first type of non‐glial cell (a polymorphonuclear phagocyte) was positively identified as a neutrophil and p
