โœฆ Synopsis

In the present work the backward-facing step problem is analysed in the framework of the ยฎnite element method. It is a very well-known benchmark problem for the numerical resolution of the incompressible NavierยฑStokes equations. In particular, a generalized streamline operator technique (GSO) is used in the numerical approach to these equations. The results show very good agreement with those reported by other authors using dierent methodologies.

The study investigates the entrance effect for ยฏow over a backward-facing step by comparing predictions that set the inlet boundary at various locations upstream of the sudden expansion. Differences are most signiยฎcant in the sudden expansion region. If the geometry has an inlet channel, then shorte

An approximate solution to the title problem is proposed for the case in which the inner boundary of the circular plate is free and the outer edge is elastically restrained against rotation. The displacement amplitude is approximated by means of a superposition of simple polynomial co-ordinate funct
