✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Supercontinuum (SC) pumped by a 10‐GHz active mode‐locked Er^3+^‐doped fiber‐ring laser (AML‐EDFL) has been gained and the characteristics of the optical pulses extracted from SC have been studied. The central wavelength, bandwidth, and shape of the filters will have important effects on the optical pulses' output. Some conclusions about the filters are drawn from using SC as the optical source for a wavelength‐division multiplexing over optical‐time‐division multiplexing (WDM/OTDM) transmission system. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
