✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The Mössbauer resonance absorption is measured in various silicates containing iron. The observed isomeric shifts are in accordance with the interpretation of WALKER. Even for Fe^3+^ ions, large quadrupole splittings are found. The analysis of the spectrum of tourmaline is similar to that of biotite.
