✦ Synopsis
engine. We developed a new test method and an apparatus to evaluate the friction characteristics under boundary lubrication mode. By using this apparatus, the influence of engine oil viscosity and Friction Modifiers on coefficients of friction was examined. The result showed that lowering the viscosity increased coefficients of friction under boundary lubrication mode, and addition of Organic Molybdenum compounds to engine oil was shown to reduce the coefficients of friction under this mode.
