โฆ Synopsis
A combustion process which enables a simultaneous reduction of NOx and soot in DI diesel engines was analyzed. The study revealed that a new combustion structure can be established by promoting fuel dispersion before ignition. The pre-reaction before thermal reaction leading to combustion was intensively discussed from the viewpoints of mixture formation and chemical reaction. The effects of EGR and fuel characteristics on pre-reaction control were examined. As a result, the control of oxygen quantity contributed to a suppression of undesirable early ignition. ยฉ Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc. and Elsevier Science B.V.

The tractor-trailer has many advantages in mass transportation, but has some problems of driving such as the needs for a wide turning area, and the requirement of highly-skilled drivers. We evaluated these problems, and studied a method of automatic trailer steering by simulation and vehicle test.
