โฆ Synopsis
Results of accelerated tests for screening potentially reactive concrete aggregates are presented. The tests were performed using a newly developed, computer-controlled Double LVDT instrumentation. A statistical analysis of data obtained from the test indicates that high and significant correlations exist between the accelerated test and the standard tests employed in the study. From the relationships between the accelerated test and the standard tests, critical limits of expansisn were established for the former. Expansions in hot (80 C) IN NaOH solution of 0.17% after 12 days and 0.33% after 24 days are considered excessive for alkali-silica reactive rocks; for alkali-carbonate reactive rocks, the critical limit is 0.16% after 24 days.
