β¦ Synopsis
High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been employed in studying the structure of mesoporous carbon sorbents and adsorption equilibrium in systems containing aromatic compounds carbon sorbent-solvent (n-heptane, acetonitrile, methylethylketon). The comparison of static and HPLC adsorption isotherms for aromatic compounds on carbon has made it possible to reveal the presence of micropores in mesoporous sorbents and estimate the mesopore surface area. The macromolecule sieve chromatography data can be used for the estimation of some parameters of porous structure, and for elucidation of the mechanism of interaction between a polymer with polymodal molecular weight distribution (MWD) and carbon surface. The resulting values of retention volumes and their dependence on temperature make it possible to calculate thermodynamic characteristics of adsorption equilibria.
