Pentosidine framework 4‐butyl‐2‐propyl‐4__H__‐aminoimidazo[4,5‐b]pyridine (2) was synthesized through a five steps reaction sequence. The regiochemistry of 2 was confirmed by an unambiguous synthesis, and the UV absorption and fluorescent properties of 2 were examined. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2010).
