✦ Synopsis
In the title complex [Yb(SAr*) 2 (thf) 4 ] (Ar* is 2,6-Trip 2 C 6 H 3 , C 36 H 49 S, where Trip is 2,4,6-i Pr 3 C 6 H 2 ; thf is tetrahydrofuran, C 4 H 8 O), the Yb atom occupies a special position on the inversion center. It shows a slightly distorted trans-octahedral environment formed by the O atoms of four tetrahydrofuran ligands (average YbÐO 2.400 A Ê ) and the S atoms of two thiolate ligands [YbÐS 2.8023 (13) A Ê ]. The overcrowding caused by the sterically encumbered Ar* ligands is re¯ected in the large YbÐSÐC angle of 151.16 (16) .
