Synopsis
The problem of smoothing out concentration fluctuations by passage through cascades of stirred mixers is formulated from the point of view of probability. The formulation is in terms of the theory of random processes, and techniques based on covariance functions are introduced side by side with spectral techniques. The two methods are illustrated by application to various particular problems, some of which have previously been treated by DANCKWERTS ([4], [5]) and others.

In many such situations both qualitative characteristics and quantitative ones are observed. I n literature there are different methoda of handling such problems. The paper presents a met
Sensitivity analysis of the transportation problem is developed in a way which enables reducing the dimensionality of the associated tableau. This technique is used to reduce the dimensionality of a transportation problem whose origin requirements are relatively small at the majority of origins. A l
We consider a generic flow-transport system of partial differential equations, which has wide application in the waste disposal industry. The approximation of this system, using a finite element method for the brine, radionuclides, and heat combined with a mixed finite element method for the pressur
