โœฆ Synopsis

This paper introduces a standardized procedure to study the cost-effectiveness of renewable energy systems (RES) from which it is concluded that in Jordan the cost of production of one kWh/m 2 is almost 3 times more expensive for solar water heating systems (SWHS) than for wind energy conversion systems (WECS). The units similarity method is used in this procedure to compare systematically between SWHS and WECS using annual specific output (ASO), cost of energy production, fuel savings and discounted pay-back period (DPBP) as the main comparative parameters. This procedure is extensible to other RES.

A methodology for assessing the seismic capacity of existing frames in terms of energy is proposed. It estimates the global amount of input energy-in form of a factor AE IU -and hysteretic energy that the overall structure can dissipate until collapse under earthquake-type loadings. The method requi
