β¦ Synopsis
Abstrac~---Tnfrared spectra of the products formed in the reaction between hydrogen chloride (and deuterium chloride) and the bases formylferroeene, acetylferrocene and 1,2-(a-ketotetramethylene)-ferrocene have been studied. The results suggest that these bases are much stronger than arylketones with a related skeletal structure and that at least two cationic conjugate acids are formed. The importance of the mutual interaction of the iron and oxygen atoms in stabilizing the protonated complexes is discussed.

## Abstract The protonation of a heterocyclic rigidβrod polymer poly(__p__βphenylene benzbisthiazole) and its model compound has been studied by UVβvisible and Raman spectroscopy. Because of the two nitrogens on the heterocyclic ring, spectroscopic features of unprotonated, halfβprotonated, and ful
## Abstract This short review concerns the protonation of Schiff bases by halogenic or carboxylic acids with a bias toward the chromophore of visual and bacterial rhodopsins. It is pointed out that the weak acids available in these pigments could not protonate the retinyl Schiff base 100% and that
