✦ Synopsis
The oxidative addition of Br 2 to the imidazoline-2-selone de-the hypervalent 10-Se-3 selenium compounds 3aϪc containing the BrϪSeϪBr group. The crystal structure of 1,2-bis(3-rivatives 1aϪc has been studied by spectrophotometric and conductometric techniques. The experimental results clearly methyl-4-imidazolin-2-ylium dibromoselenanide)ethane (3c), a new stable hypervalent 10-Se-3 compound, is also re-indicate that this reaction involves the dications 2aϪc, containing an SeϪSe bond, as intermediates in the formation of ported.
