The InsP3 receptor is a ligand-gated calcium channel that is modulated both by InsP3 and Ca 2+ . Recent experiments have shown that the mean open time of the channel is not a monotonic function of [Ca +2 ]. In this work, we propose a solution for this type of behavior in a general framework.
