Abstract

An effective technique for extracting the singularity of plane wave spectra in the computation of antenna aperture fields is proposed. The singular spectrum is first factorized into a product of a finite function and a singular function. The finite function is inverse Fourier transformed numerically using the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform, while the singular function is inverse Fourier transformed analytically, using the Weyl‐identity, and the two resulting spatial functions are then convolved to produce the antenna aperture field. This article formulates the theory of the singularity extraction technique and illustrates the effect of this for an array of electric Hertzian dipoles. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
