✦ Synopsis

The oscillatory behavior ofthe Belousov-Zhabotinskii reaction (BZ) with oxalic acid was simulated under closed-batch conditions when no bromine was removed from the reaction system. The set of reactions used is an amplified version of Sasaki's mechanism. Oscillations could be simulated when the reaction of oxalic acid with BrO, was added. Introduction of the decomposition of oxalic acid into inert products resulted in reproduction of experimentally observed oscillations. The set of reactions presented was also able to simulate oscillations in the BZ system with oxalic acid when gas-bubbling or acetone was used to decrease the bromine concentration.
