shifted UV/VIS spectrum of the chromophore of 5,15-bisnorcobester 2131 was observed. The reaction is only reproducible in the presence of small amounts of CCl,. Under optimized conditions (Scheme 1) the didemethylation proceeds almost quantitatively (UV/VIS spectroscopy).
