✦ Synopsis
A simple predictive model is presented here to describe the layer inversion behaviour of binary solidÈliquid Ñuidized beds. The model is based on the assumption that the concentrations of the two particle species in the binary bed when normalized with respect to their mono-component counterparts are linearly related. The comparison of the model predictions with the experimental data available in the literature conÐrms the applicability of this simple model to predict the inversion phenomenon.
