Abstract

A method is described by which the S‐methylcysteine sulphoxide content of plant material may be determined approximately in a large number of samples with little labour, apparatus or staff. The presence of SMCO in some plants and its absence in others was confirmed and the method was sufficiently sensitive to reveal varietal differences within a species.
