✦ Synopsis
An inexpensive apparatus is described for the preparation of large-volume convex exponential gradients for zonal rotors. The apparatus makes use of a constant volume mixing chamber, and efficient mixing of large volumes at high flow rates is obtained by the adaptation of an ordinary homogenizer. Examples of conditions which have been used for the isolation of prokaryotic and eukaryotic ribosomal subunits are given.
