✦ Synopsis

In this paper, a simple analysis is developed to describe the hypervelocity cratering characteristics of semi-infinite targets by projectile. The comparison between theoretical and experimental results are made for a spherical projectile with the velocity 2-7km/s. It is found that the results given by the present model are in reasonably good agreement with experiments.
