## Abstract Silicon‐29 NMR spectra were obtained for more than 20 aqueous alkaline silicate solutions containing methanol. A signal assigned to CH~3~OSi(OH)~3~ or one of its deprotonated congeners was studied in detail for the first time for the solution conditions involved. Its appearance was moni
