## Abstract The membrane surrounding the hip joint containing metal endoprostheses were examined in 20 patients using histology and the scanning electron microscope (SEM). No synovial cells were found. The capsule was dense fibrous tissue, covered at the surface with an amorphous membrane of doubtf
