✦ Synopsis

We present a simple model of forces inside a granular medium. The model is applied to simulate the forces within a sandpile, and has further the feature of generating the sandpile itself. At the bottom of the sandpile the distribution of vertical forces shows a local minimum under the apex of the pile, in coherence with experimental observations.
