A consecutive series of 282 patients undergoing splenectomy on one surgical unit has been studied to ascertain the incidence of postoperative subphrenic abscess. Only two atypical subphrenic abscesses occurred (0.17 per cent), a rate of abscess formation much lower than that reported in other series

โฆ Synopsis
Summary
The physical and microbiological properties of a new disposable suction drainage system have been investigated under clinical and laboratory conditions. The system appears to have overcome the disadvantages associated with previous disposable and reusable low pressure suction drainage systems for use after surgical operation in that this system effectively prevents reflux and retrograde contamination.

The observed activation of energy for a unimolecular reaction in the low pressure limit deviates from the high pressure activation energy by two contributing factors; these factors are discussed and applied to the decomposition of CO2. The correction is found to be approximately 30 kcal.
