A facile and general entry to functionalized bridged bicyclic nitrogen heterocycles has been developed that involves the ring-closing metathesis (RCM) of cis-2,6-dialkenyl-N-acyl piperidines that were readily prepared from glutarimide or 4methoxypyridine.
