✦ Synopsis
Clusters of styrene and [3-methylstyrene (BMS) with argon and of styrene with molecular nitrogen were prepared in a supersonic jet. The vibrational frequencies of the solvated styrenes in S 1 are very similar to that of the bare molecule, but some small, non-negligible differences are noted. A correlation between the observed solvent shift and the changes of the vibrational frequencies upon S O -+ S 1 excitation in the bare molecule is found and discussed. In addition, the binding energies and some van der Waals frequencies are estimated from the data.

The infrared spectra of the NH 2 stretching modes of aniline-Ar n (n ~ 1, 2) clusters and corresponding cluster cations in a supersonic jet have been observed using an IR-REMPI double resonance technique. The observed frequencies of the 1 + aniline-Ar cluster are ~sym = 3422, and Uasy m ~ 3508 cm-,
New details of the dynamics and spectroscopy of trans-stilbene are revealed by picosecond excitation of jet-cooled and collision-free molecules. The fluorescence spectra clearly show the low-frequency torsional modes of the ground state. The time-resolved fluorescence following $1 excitation exhibit
