Abstract

It is shown that distance from the virtual origin reached by the shaped charge jet at the moment of particulation is proportional to the square root of the kinetic energy per unit directrix length which is delivered to the liner by the explosive. This relation helps in better understanding some basic shaped charge design problems. It also points at the possible existence of a convenient way for comparing the yield strength in the jet, between different materials.
