A family of embedded Runge-Kutta formulae RK5 (4) are derived. From these are presented formulae which have (a) ‘small’ principal truncation terms in the fifth order and (b) extended regions of absolute stability.

In this paper, we consider the parallel solution of non-stiff ordinary differential equations with two different classes of Runge-Kutta (RK) methods providing embedded solutions: classical embedded RK methods and iterated RK methods which were constructed especially for parallel execution. For embed
Two new embedded pairs of exponentially fitted explicit Runge-Kutta methods with four and five stages for the numerical integration of initial value problems with oscillatory or periodic solutions are developed. In these methods, for a given fixed ω the coefficients of the formulae of the pair are s
