โฆ Synopsis
To make the printing and coating of polymers easy, a surface treatment is crucial to increase their wettability. Plasma polymerization is known as a technique for depositing uniform and ultrathin coatings of polymer-like materials, whose total surface energy and polarity can be adjusted in a wide range. A roll coater is presented which enables plasma polymerization onto polymeric webs to be carried out in a semicontinuous process. The conditions of the deposition are examined especially in respect to its integration ability into production lines. The specific directional monomer input renders it possible to carry out scaling up of the presented facility.
