โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

In a typical probability learning task participants are presented with a repeated choice between two response alternatives, one of which has a higher payoff probability than the other. Rational choice theory requires that participants should eventually allocate all their responses to the highโ€payoff alternative, but previous research has found that people fail to maximize their payoffs. Instead, it is commonly observed that people match their response probabilities to the payoff probabilities. We report three experiments on this choice anomaly using a simple probability learning task in which participants were provided with (i) large financial incentives, (ii) meaningful and regular feedback, and (iii) extensive training. In each experiment large proportions of participants adopted the optimal response strategy and all three of the factors mentioned above contributed to this. The results are supportive of rational choice theory. Copyright ยฉ 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

## Abstract In a recent examination of the integrated nature of inflation, Culver and Papell (__Journal of Applied Econometrics__, 1997) applied a range of unit root and stationarity tests to data from a panel of 13 OECD economies. Some confusion has arisen in the literature regarding the electron impact mass spectrum of N-methyltolbutamide. The situation is complicated by the thermal lability of this compound which causes the formation of the corresponding N-methylsulfonamide. We present here spectral data at relatively low p

This paper explains the contradictory findings from long-run and short-run tests of the rational expectations hypothesis of the term structure. Recent research suggests that, while the long-run tests support the theory, the short-run tests do not. Our results which are based on US Treasury bills rat
