The Raman spectrum of crystalhne carbon tetrabromide has been studied at various temperatures above and below the order-disorder phase transition near 320 K. Changes in the lattice and stretching region spectra at temperatures near T, show that there are two phases separated by a first-order transition The phase transition ua_s found to be associated with the sdtcning or a lou-frequency lattice Raman mode.
