## Abstract The beam steering gain of Eโplane notch phased array antenna is estimated using the converged active element pattern (AEP) and the directivity of an isotropic linear array. To get the gain for all scan angles, the authors first investigated the convergence of an AEP with the number of f

Abstract
This paper is concerned with selection and design of an antenna element of a phased array antenna for 20 GHz communications satellite. For this purpose, a new type of dualโmode horn with inner choke ring at the excitation region is proposed. Also, measured results compared with predicted data for the dualโmode horn radiator with a circular polarizer are presented. ยฉ 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
