✦ Synopsis
The geometry and band-gap values of oligopyrroles of increasing chain Ž length were calculated using different semiempirical quantum-chemical methods AM1, . PM3, SAM1, INDOr1 CI . The oxidative doping results in large changes in the geometry and conductive properties of oligomers. The properties of doped polypyrrole are extrapolated from the calculated data for oligomers.

The electronic structures of a series of phenols, phenoxyl cation radicals and phenoxyl radicals were calculated by the AM1 method. On the basis of the presumed electrochemical reaction, the electronic structure criteria determining the antioxidant activity are discussed. Ionization potentials, abso
Citrate synthase forms citrate by deprotonation of acetyl-CoA followed by nucleophilic attack of this substrate on oxaloacetate, and subsequent hydrolysis. The rapid reaction rate is puzzling because of the instability of the postulated nucleophilic intermediate, the enolate of acetyl-CoA. As altern
