โœฆ Synopsis

Atom-polyatomic collision rates are discussed, paying particular attention to the muItkenter nature of the intermolec-ula~ forces. A useful transition rate expression for energy loss shows the centra1 role pfayed by the space-time pair corretation functions of the target.

We present a second-order many-body perturbation approach to coherent radiation processes. The theory gives a unified view of several many-atom effects as eigenmodes of the interacting atom-field system. Two renormalization procedures are essential to perform our program: (complex) energy renormaliz

The proper treatment of many-body effects for fermions has long been a goal of theorists working in atomic and molecular physics. The computational demands of such a treatment, however, when coupled to the added difficulties imposed by the presence of external electromagnetic sources, have resulted
