โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A prospective study of breastโ€cancer risk in postmenopausal women has been carried out with the cooperation of 50 general practitioners. A total of 7,259 women have been followed up for an average period of 5.4 years (maximum 8.1 years); 70 cases of breast cancer occurred. The main finding was a pronounced effect of body weight and height on breast cancer risk; the significance of this in explaining international differences in incidence is stressed. High parity counteracted the risk of high weight regarding breastcancer. Single women did not show a high risk because of their relatively low body weight. The relative risk in women with a previous mastectomy was fiveโ€fold.

Epidemiologic evidence is lacking for the association between alcohol consumption and the risk of breast cancer in Japanese women. We addressed this association in a prospective cohort study with an average follow-up of 7.6 years. At baseline (1988-1990), cohort participants completed a self-adminis

## Abstract High BMI is a wellโ€known risk factor for postmenopausal breast cancer. There have been some reports of excess risk in association with weight gain and WHR, but little is known about the influence of body fatness __per se.__ Using data from the Malmรถ Diet and Cancer Study, a prospective

## Abstract Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Controversy exists regarding the role of dietary fat in breast cancer etiology. We investigated the association of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the ratio of nโ€6 PUFAs to marineโ€derived nโ€3 PUFAs with breast cancer risk

## Abstract Breast cancer rates are low in many Asian populations and it has been suggested that diets low in animal products and/or high in soy foods may reduce risk for the disease. However, findings from epidemiological studies are equivocal. We investigated the relationships of a vegetarian die

## Abstract Mammographic density is a strong risk factor for breast cancer, but the underlying biology for this association is unknown. Studies suggest that vitamin D may reduce breast cancer risk and dietary vitamin D intake has been associated with reduced breast density. We conducted a caseโ€“cont
