β¦ Synopsis
Median visibilities are calculated for four sites in central Scotland for summer and winter seasons over the period 1962-1982. A steady improvement in visibility at all sites has taken place, but especially in winter at the two urban sites. The relative importance of climatological and air pollution influences is uncertain, but the effects of the 1973 oil crisis on summer visibility, through reduced sulphur emissions, appears to be much less evident than in southern England.
