Essentially enantiopure syn-propionate aldols (>98% ee) were prepared by a chiral oxazaborolidinone-promoted asymmetric aldol reaction, followed by a diastereoselective radical reduction with Bu3SnH and Et3B, which was carried out under chelation control.
