✦ Synopsis

Technical details are given for the successful operation of CRAMPS techniques to obtain high-resolution proton NMR spectra of solids. Matters addressed include probe construction, tuning procedures, optimization of pulses, spectral calibration and referencing. In practice, the MREV-8 sequence is preferred to BR-24. It is suggested that CRAMPS operation deserves more widespread application.

Three multiple-pulse spin-echo experiments that have been used to enhance the sensitivity of broad powder patterns obtained from NMR spectra of spin-1/2 and half-integer quadrupolar nuclei in polycrystalline solids are examined. Specifically, the Carr-Purcell Meiboom-Gill (CPMG), the Mansfield-Waugh
