β¦ Synopsis
An analytical approach based on the power series method is proposed for the study of problems involving periodic motion. It is shown that a power series solution for a dynamical system, convergent for all time, can be obtained by transforming the independent time variable into an oscillating time variable. The transformed differential equation becomes well-conditioned for a solution by the power series method. As an example, the undamped free vibrations of the Duffing oscillator is studied and the results compared with existing solutions.
