โœฆ Synopsis

The purpose of this report is to provide a brief summary of discussions that took place at the International Workshop. This report is meant to complement the perspectives provided by the discussants (G. Guyatt, J. Landgraf and B. Pollock) in their reports and in the commentary provided by G.A. Monaco.

Discussion at the workshop was lively and wide-ranging. It is the opinion of the Steering Committee that the pre-circulation and pre-reading of draft papers and the imposition of a strict limit on the time authors had to present their papers (5 min each) helped to create conditions conducive to stimulating and productive discussion.

Clearly, a brief summary cannot do justice to the discussions that took place. Nonetheless, the Steering Committee thought it useful to record 7 key points that emerged.
