✦ Synopsis
It is proposed that the high field IgF nuclear spin polarization observed in fhe producr of the reaction of tluorobenzyl halides with sodium naphthalene is not due to the usual radical pair mechanism, but rather to a build up of electron spin polarization in the intermediate benzyl radical combined with electron-nuclear spin cross relaxation.
