Abstract

Treatment of 1,8‐diethynylanthracene with n‐butyllithium and N‐formylpiperidine at −5°C gives a mixture of the monoaldehyde 4 and the dialdehyde 2. Further reaction of these aldehydes with the 2,2′‐dipyrrylmethane 1 affords the bridged porphyrinogen 3 and the meso‐substituted porphyrin 5, respectively. magnified image
