The title compound, diaqua(pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato)-

is a polynuclear complex in which neighbouring La III ions are bridged by the carboxylate O atoms of the anionic ligand molecules. The central La III atom is coordinated by two N,O,O H -tridentate dipicolinic acid ligands, and two water O atoms. The coordination number of the La III ion is nine.
