✦ Synopsis

A formulation of the PML technique suitable for the FDTD simulation of optical structures is presented. The FDTD formulation is based on the scalar-wa¨e equation. The resulting algorithm is stable, efficient, and effecti¨e. Numerical results show that the technique pro¨ides an excellent le¨el of absorption with a reasonable amount of

A new ¨oltage source formulation for FDTD is reported in this article. By stimulating the ¨oltage source right in the plane of the strip line, this new source formulation can be used in the simulation of a wide ¨ariety of high-frequency integrated circuits, including those without ground planes. A continuum-based variational principle is presented for the formulation of the discrete governing equations of partitioned structural systems. This application includes coupled substructures as well as subdomains obtained by mesh decomposition. The present variational principle is derived by a seri
