✦ Synopsis

Four conditions sufficient for the applicability of Raoult's Law are stated. A generalized expression for phase equilibrium is derived by relaxing three of those conditions by accounting for the liquid-phase molal volume and by describing the gas phase by the virial equation of state. This expression is then expanded in a power series about the Raoult's Law value of vapour pressure or mole fraction.
