✦ Synopsis

Osteosarcomas of the femur are treated nowadays, if possible, by chemotherapy, resection of the tumor and reconstruction with an endoprosthesis. There is not only a risk of epiphyseal fractures in the long bones due to chemotherapy but also of a fracture in the remnant of the treated femur These fractures should be treated conservatively because of the risk of infection and non-union if treated operatively.

Zusammenfassung Osteosarkome des Femur werden heute, wenn m 6 glich, mit Chemotherapie, Tumorresektion und Rekonstruktion mit Hilfe von Endoprothesen behandelt Dabei besteht als Folge der Chemotherapie nicht nur das Risiko einer Epiphysenfraktur der langen R 6 hrenknochen, sondern auch einer Fraktur im Rest des behandelten Femur. Wegen des Risikos von Infektion und Heilungsstorung bei operativer Therapie sollten solche Frakturen konservativ behandelt werden.
