✦ Synopsis

A new numerical method, periodic relaxation method, for computing microstructure is established. Convergence of the method is proved. It is shown that higher order error bounds can be obtained with the method, and in particular, numerical solutions with computer accuracy can be expected to obtain for simple laminated microstructures. Numerical examples are given.
