Abstract
A novel z‐bridged electromagnetic bandgap power plane is proposed for ultra‐wideband suppression of simultaneous switching noise (SSN) in high‐speed digital circuits. The z‐shaped bridge effectively increases the inductance between two adjacent unit cells. Stopband of −30 dB is realized from 260 MHz to 6.76 GHz. The excellent SSN suppression performance is validated both numerically and experimentally; good signal integrity performance can be obtained by using differential transmission lines. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
